Industrial Automation needs Rugged Servers

Aertight Systems, Inc. started as a small IT Service provider which focused, largely, on servicing computer hardware around the Annapolis, Baltimore, and Washington DC Metro areas. At first, our clients included small local businesses, but as our reputation grew, we began to receive attention from Fortune 100 companies who realized they could get faster, more specialized support for their industrial automation projects by working with Aertight.

The engineers we worked with all had similar problems. Industrial Automation was a field that required historians and data aggregation to be located (most often) On-Site at the facility. Even if high speed or network connections were available, the applications developers who built systems for industrial automation would not always be allowed to remote in to maintain their systems due to security concerns.

Many utilities and facilities require an "Air-Gap" or total network disconnection between their industrial automation servers and the internet. This approach alleviates many security concerns, but can be a nightmare for engineers and applications developers.

Most industrial automation software has been installed on traditional servers, filled with mechanical spinning disk hard drives, fans, and without any kind of display. This gear is not designed for these environments, and when it breaks, serious problems occur. The application developers get called, in the middle of the night, and a bleary eyed operator is trying to restart a Dell server in a rack filled with other vendors gear.

Aertight Systems, Inc. built the Aertight Server Platform as a completely new type of system that solves these problems for industrial automation. Our system is a patent pending, fanless, water-resistant, nearly silent, Microsoft Windows Server with no moving parts (includes a touchscreen) and protected by a 16 gauge steel housing.

The system allows you to service more clients all from the "Beach in Barbados". The Beach is Barbados is our test to ensure that you can coach an operator through 95% of all server issues with the Aertight Server Platform, over the phone, from a beach in Barbados.
